A two week selling exhibition

The Chichester Open Art Exhibition is in its 12th year
and will again be shown at the Minerva, Chichester Festival
Theatre.
The dates of this year’s exhibition are:
Saturday 8th November –
Saturday 22nd November
The Winners & Highly Commended works will then
be shown at the Arts Club, Dover Street, London W1 from:
Monday
24th November – Sunday 30th November 2008
Entry forms will be available mid April for the 2008
competition and will be available for downloading on
this site.

stamped addressed
A5 envelope to the Administrator, PO Box

Entries for the exhibition will be accepted on certain
dates in October ’08 – dates and locations
to be confirmed.
Professor Maurice Cockrill
RA, Keeper of the Royal Academy Schools was
the Chairman of the Judges in 2007 and will continue
to be so for the 2008 exhibition. (the two other judges
will be confirmed in due course).
This is what Professor Cockrill said of the 2007
entries:
"Among a very large submission of almost 1000 art
works there was a quite spectacular variety of subject
matter and pictorial range. From impeccable hard-edged
abstraction and meticulous realism to the most intriguing
and idiosyncratic figuration (and every style in between)
the contrasts were startling and impressive: the solemn
and profound balanced by colourful optimism - with even
a number of significant pictures full of wit and humour. Overall,
a fine display of painterly skill."
The Chichester Open Art Exhibition of paintings
and drawings has been held in most years since 1995.
In 2004 the 8th exhibition moved to a new venue in the
Minerva Theatre, Chichester Festival Theatre –
described as ‘An imaginative coming together of
the Arts in Chichester’.
